Quick Reference

Transmembrane proteins (receptor activity modifying proteins) that interact with G-protein-coupled receptors and alter their specificity. If RAMP-1 (148 aa) transports the calcitonin receptor-like receptor to the membrane it behaves as a calcitonin gene related peptide-receptor (CGRPR), but if RAMP2 (175 aa) is involved it acts as an adrenomedullin-receptor. RAMP3 is similar to RAMP1 but does not potentiate responses to CGRP.
