US-Canadian dancer, choreographer, and director. He studied at the Graham school and danced with her company from 1960 to 1967, also guesting with other companies, including Limón and American Dance Theatre. In 1967 he created his first work, for the New Dance Group of Canada, and in 1968 he co-founded, with David Earle and Patricia Beatty, the Toronto Dance Theatre. A charismatic performer, he also created many works for the company, developing a highly physical and technically demanding style. From the late 1980s he pursued a freelance career.
