Quick Reference

A brownish-yellow earth colour obtained from a natural clay containing iron and manganese, raw sienna is one of the basic artist's colours and is often used for flesh colours. As its name implies, raw sienna was originally found near the Tuscan city of Siena and the best grades are still imported from Italy. See burnt sienna.
