A polymerase chain reaction method (RT-PCR) that can be used to give semiquantitative information about the amount of DNA originally present. It involves measuring the rate of accumulation of PCR product using a fluorescent marker. Should not be confused with reverse transcriptase PCR (also abbreviated as RT-PCR).
