recombinant inbred lines

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Inbred lines, each derived independently from an F2 generation produced from crossing two unrelated, inbred, progenitor lines. Each RI line has a characteristic combination of genes with a different pattern of alternative alleles at multiple loci. This technique has been used in mice to fix chance recombinants in a homozygous state in a group of strains derived from two unrelated but highly inbred progenitor strains.
