A person who regulates or controls, or anything that regulates or controls, especially (in social psychology) a gesture (1) that accompanies speech and helps to coordinate turn-taking, including raising a hand in the air to indicate that one has not finished speaking, and establishing eye contact at the beginning and end of a speaking turn.
