Quick Reference

A one-off payment made to an employee who is obliged to move to another geographical location because of the requirements of his or her job. In some circumstances, such as when managers decide to move the whole organization to a greenfield site, relocation might be paid to the whole of the workforce. In managerial and professional occupations, relocation allowances are sometimes offered to new members of staff to assist their move—particularly where this requires selling their home and relocating a family.
