A condition is which REM atonia does not function during episodes of dreaming. People with this disorder thrash violently about, leap out of bed, and sometimes attack bed-partners during REM sleep. It is assumed to be due to a lesion in the subcoerulear nucleus or the magnocellular nucleus. US REM behavior disorder. RBD abbrev.
