Renner complex

Quick Reference

A group of chromosomes (and the genes within them) that are distributed as a unit generation after generation. Such complexes are found in species belonging to the genera Oenothera and Rhoeo, for example, where whole sets of chromosomes are involved in a series of interchanges. At first meiotic metaphase, one sees rings of bivalents, rather than independent tetrads.

Subjects: Genetics and Genomics.
