A naturally occurring biological rubber, which returns almost to its former shape if deformed, so conserving most of the energy used in its deformation. Resilin contains two unique amino acids (di- and tri-tyrosine) which give it a characteristic, sapphire-blue fluorescence in ultraviolet light.
