Overview

retinoblastoma-binding proteins

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A family of proteins that bind to the retinoblastoma gene product. RBBP4 (histone-binding protein RBBP4, chromatin assembly factor 1 subunit C, CAF-I p48, nucleosome-remodelling factor subunit RBAP48, 425 aa) is a component of several complexes that regulate chromatin metabolism, including the chromatin assembly factor 1 (CAF-1) complex, the core histone deacetylase (HDAC) complex, the nucleosome remodelling and histone deacetylase complex (the NuRD complex), the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex, and the NURF (nucleosome remodelling factor) complex. Retinoblastoma interacting myosin-like protein (retinoblastoma-binding protein 8, RBBP8, RIM, 897 aa) interacts with Rb and may be a tumour suppressor; mutations are found in some carcinomas.
