In psychometrics, any consistent tendency on the part of a respondent to choose a particular response category in a multiple-choice questionnaire irrespective of the content of the question or item, as in acquiescence response set or position preference, rather than a tendency to choose a particular type of response determined by the content of the item or question, as in social desirability response set.
