Distal or posterior to the last molar tooth. Retromolar pad see pad, retromolar. The retromolar triangle is a three-sided area posterior (distal) to the third molar tooth in the centre of which is a depression, the retromolar fossa. The retromolar fossa is bounded medially by the lowest part of the temporal crest and laterally by the external oblique ridge.
