(b Vienna, 1656; d Vienna, 29 Aug. 1738). Austrian organist and composer. In 1686 he succeeded Johann Kaspar Kerll as organist at St Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna. From 1696 he served the imperial court chapel as accompanist for the opera, and from 1700 as court organist. At St Stephen's he succeeded Fux as vice-Kapellmeister in 1712, and in 1715 became Kapellmeister. He is now remembered solely for his organ preludes and toccatas.
