Quick Reference

Vectors based on retroviruses (see Retroviridae) that have the ability to integrate into the genome of the infected cell. Retroviral vectors can be used to introduce reporter genes into cells and, because they are integrated, they are copied together with the cell's genome. This allows labelling of cell lineages.
