ecclesiastical reformer. In 1780 he became Bp. of Pistoia-Prato. He took the lead in introducing into N. Italy Josephinist doctrines and a higher standard of morals. He carried through a plan of reform at the Synod of Pistoia (1786), but he met with much opposition and resigned his see in 1791.
