English Aristotelian and Franciscan. Richard's were among the first medieval commentaries on Aristotle. He also wrote on Peter Lombard's Sentences, and was one of the most influential figures in late thirteenth-century philosophy, logic and theo-logy. In many respects his doctrines anticipate those of Duns Scotus.
