(b Lonigo, nr. Vicenza, 1 Apr. 1594; d Venice, 5 Sept. 1658).
Italian painter and writer. He is insignificant as an artist, but he is remembered as the biographer of Tintoretto (1642) and author of Le miraviglie dell'arte (The Marvels of Art), published in two volumes in 1648. This is a source of great importance for the history of Venetian art, which was somewhat scantily treated by Vasari. Ridolfi was also a notable collector of drawings; many of those he owned are now at Christ Church, Oxford.
