Cistercian abbot. English by birth, Roger became a Cistercian monk at Lorroy in Berry. Exemplary in his practice of poverty and other monastic observance, he was chosen as founding abbot of Ellant, near Reims. There he was well known for his care of the sick. After his death a chapel was dedicated in his honour and his relics enshrined. Feast: 4 January.
