It. composer. Wrote oratorio at age of 11 and opera at 14. Taught at Liceo Musicale, Bari, from 1939, becoming orch. 1950–78. Comp. 10 operas, 3 syms., concs. for pf., tb., vc., bn., db., and hn., chamber mus., and many film scores for the directors Fellini, de Filippo, Visconti, and Zeffirelli.
