rural health

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The health of people living in rural regions. Because of their relative distance from a wide range of health services, isolation, and perhaps a restricted gene pool, the health of rural people is often different from and usually inferior to that of comparable people in urban and suburban regions of the same country. However, the absence of crowding and the stress associated with urban living reduces some health risks in rural populations.

Subjects: Public Health and Epidemiology.
