US dancer and choreographer. He studied with Maracci, Dolin, and Tudor and danced with Ballet Theatre (1939–43 and 1946–7). He is best known for choreographing musicals, such as Bernstein's Wonderful Town (1953) and No, No, Nanette (1971), but was also assistant and later associate director of the Harkness Ballet (1964–9). In 2001 he returned to the stage in the revival of Follies, the musical.
