Quick Reference
Five fused vertebrae forming a triangle-shaped structure at the back of the pelvis. The sacrum articulates superiorly with a lumbar vertebra, inferiorly with the coccyx, and anteriorly with the ilium of the pelvis. The sacrum strengthens and stabilizes the pelvis.
