The term used by North Indian Vaiṣṇaiva bhakti poets, such as Haridāsa, Hitaharivaṃśa, and Harirāma Vyāsa, to designate a close female attendant or girl-friend of Rādhā. The poet identifies with this sakhī to the point of assuming her role—a devotional stance also employed by the male members of the Sakhībhāva sect.
