A form of motivational incentive aimed at members of a company's sales force. These are competitions designed to boost sales and lift performance by offering awards or prizes to top achievers in a sales team in a given period. They also encourage competition between salespeople. Most companies with field sales forces offer all-expenses-paid holidays to their salespeople who have reached defined sales quotas. Such a system becomes a major incentive to salespeople to reach their quotas in order to avoid the stigma of missing the holiday with their successful sales peers.
