In the Mahābhārata, the blind King Dhṛṣtarāṣṭra's driver (sūta) and his ‘eyes’. In the Bhīṣmaparvan (Book 6), he is granted spiritual vision by Vyāsa, and from there until the middle of the Sauptikaparvan (Book 10) becomes the main narrator (sūta) of the story.
