Founded cons. in Berlin 1881 (merged with Klindworth Cons. 1893). Lived in USA 1891–8, founding cons. in NY. Returned to Ger. and was co‐dir. Klindworth‐Scharwenka Cons. 1898–1914. Opened new sch. in Berlin 1914. Comps. incl. opera, sym., 4 pf. concs., 2 pf. sonatas, church mus., chamber mus., and many songs. Ed. Schumann's pf. works.
