Scoloker founded the first printing office at Ipswich c.1547, where he printed English translations (some of them his own) of German, French, and Dutch works; by mid-1548, he had moved to London and was in business with William Seres. He used Continental types and woodblocks obtained from the Ghent typefounder and printer Joos Lambrecht, including the first depiction of a printing press in an English book.
