Quick Reference

The plane figure obtained when a surface or solid is intersected by a plane. If the figure has an axis of symmetry and the plane is at right angles to the axis then it is a cross-section. For example, all the cross-sections of a right circular cone are circles, and the radius of the cross-section is proportional to the distance of the vertex from the plane.
