US astronaut. His three space shuttle flights include the first joint US–Russian space shuttle mission, in February 1994, aboard Discovery. He also flew on board Atlantis for the third docking with the Russian space station Mir. Sega was selected as an astronaut in 1990 and left NASA in 1996.
