A widely expressed and conserved protein (140 aa) probably involved in transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi. Mutations in the encoding gene cause spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia tarda, a progressive skeletal disorder which mainly involves vertebral bodies and hips. The intracellular chloride channel protein CLIC1 has been shown to associate with sedlin by yeast two-hybrid screening.
