server side include

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A point in an HTML page which is left blank for a Web server to insert some data. For example, the point may represent a position in the page where the date of the last modification to the document is to be inserted. When the server finds a server side include, it inserts this information before sending the page back to the browser that requested it. This is rather old technology which has been superseded by technologies such as Active Server Pages and Java Server Pages.
