In film and video production, a way of defining an individual shot that stresses the preparation involved. In feature films this includes positioning the camera and actors (who must be appropriately costumed and made up), dressing the set, adjusting the lighting and sound, etc. Set ups that are not filmed are called rehearsals; when the camera is running they are takes.
