Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A document transferring registered shares to a new owner. Formerly, a share transfer in proper form had to be delivered to the company before it could place the transferee's name on the register of members (Stock Transfer Act 1963). The whole process can now be carried out instantaneously using the Bank of England's electronic share settlement scheme. See transfer of shares. See also stamp duty reserve tax.
