Quick Reference

A specific type of arcus supplementary cloud feature in the form of a wedge of cloud on the leading edge of a thunderstorm gust front or along a cold front. It is an extension of the main cloud mass, unlike a roll cloud. The top of the wedge is normally smooth, occasionally appearing as multiple layers, but the lower surface is often turbulent.
