short leg

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Condition in which one leg is either functionally or anatomically shorter than other. In anatomical short leg, the actual lengths of the legs are different. In functional short leg, the legs are the same length, but because of some defect in gait (e.g. overpronation), one leg acts as if it is shorter than the other. Both conditions impose abnormal stresses on the body during walking and running which may lead to lower back pain and joint disorders.
