The ability to sustain a strenuous activity that has a duration of 35 s to 2 min. Short-term endurance is associated with high levels of activity of the brain and high recruitment of fast twitch muscle fibres. The energy for the activities is supplied mainly by the anaerobic system with the ATP-PCr system being important for the initial 10 s of the activity.
