A test of aerobic endurance performed by running back and forth between two lines, 20 m apart on a flat, even, and slip-resistant surface. The subject runs at a set pace, which is increased at 1-min intervals, and sometimes until he or she can no longer maintain she set pace. Scores based on the highest pace achieved and maintained are used to estimate maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). See also intermittent yo-yo endurance test.
