The Upper Carboniferous sub-system in western Europe, underlain by the Dinantian, and comprising the Namurian, Westphalian, and Stephanian Series. It is dated at 326.4–299 Ma and is roughly contemporaneous with the uppermost Mississippian (Serpukhovian Series) plus the Pennsylvanian.
