Transcriptional corepressors (Sin3A, 1219 aa; Sin3B, 1130 aa), homologues of yeast Sin3, that have multiple protein–protein interaction domains and serve as a scaffold on which corepressor complexes assemble. They do not bind to DNA but may be tethered by forming a complex with mad and max. Sin3A interacts with histone deacetylase.
