Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The process whereby the uniform resource locator and other details of a Web site are communicated to a search engine. Usually this process is fairly simple, as most search engines only require the URL and the email address of a contact. After submission a spider or human indexer visits the site and places it in the database maintained by the search engine. See also multiple search engine submission.
