A variation of the classic hourglass drum, ḍamaru. Śiva Ḍambaru, used in Orissa mostly by snake-charmers (sāpuas), has small bells fitted on the body for rhythmic effect. Ḍamaru, in mythology, is the drum of Lord Śiva; hence the prefix Śiva.
