Quick Reference

A whole-body exercise often used in warm-up routines.

▪ Stand upright with your arms stretched over your head, hands slightly clenched, and feet firmly fixed on the ground. Slowly bend your knees and swing your arms smoothly forwards and downwards in an action resembling the start of a ski jump. Continue swinging your arms back behind you, close to your buttocks; at the same time, continue to bend downwards and reach forward with your trunk, remembering not to arch your back. Hold only briefly before swinging your arms forwards and upwards as you return to the upright position, stretching upwards to your full extent, this time briefly going onto your toes if necessary. Immediately drive down again, and try to maintain a steady rhythm of down-and-back, forwards-and-up as you repeat the movements three or four times.
