A family of leucocyte antigen-6 (secreted Ly6)/urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA or PLAUR domain-containing protein) proteins. Members of the superfamily have been implicated in transmembrane signal transduction, cell activation, and cell adhesion. SLURP1 does not have a GPI-anchor but may interact with neuronal acetylcholine receptors. SLURP2 (LY6/neurotoxin 1, LYNX1) will enhance nicotinic acetylcholine receptor function in the presence of acetylcholine but is not a ligand. See Meleda disease.
