George Joseph Smith (1872–1915), the ‘brides in the bath’ murderer, was convicted in one of the most notorious murder cases of the early twentieth century. He was a serial bigamist preying on vulnerable women, ‘marrying’ at least seven times and committing three murders before being convicted and executed for the murder of Bessy Mundy in 1915.
