The organizational form of a given society which according to Anthony Giddens is constituted by processes involving the mutual orientation of actors toward one another such that each is both an individual and an object of orientation for other actors. This mutual orientation gives rise to mutual responses of a plurality of goal‐directed actions in a symbolically defined environment.
