Traditional term given to the highest rank in the Royal Danish Ballet, equivalent to étoile or principal in other companies, though for international purposes the company has now standardized its terminology. Occasionally, dancers were given the title of first solo-dancer (e.g. K. Simone) but Margot Lander was the only one to have been granted the rank of prima ballerina.
