Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The reorganization of a mixed cell aggregate formed in cuture into distinct homotypic domains, usually with one internal to the other. It has been argued that quantitative differences in homotypic and heterotypic adhesion are sufficient to account for the sorting (the differential adhesion hypothesis) without the need to invoke cell-type specific adhesion molecules.
