Modern dance in one act with choreography by Paul Taylor, music by Matthew Patton, design by Santo Loquasto, and lighting by Tipton. Premiered 1988 by the Paul Taylor Dance Company. One of Taylor's most darkly dramatic works, it portrays the emotional and spiritual conflicts within a group of fundamentalist Christians, under the warped, charismatic leadership of their preacher, designated simply as a Man of the Cloth. It was later filmed for television and won an Emmy Award.
