Compiler of A Complete and Systematic Concordance to the Works of Shakespeare (6 vols., 1968–70). It is keyed to the Riverside edition. Vols. I-III list all uses of all words in the text, without context, and also give separate character concordances to each play. Vols. IV-VI list the words alphabetically for the works as a whole, and give context. Supplementary volumes appeared in 1975: Vol. VII is a concordance to stage directions and speech-prefixes, and Vol. VIII to the ‘ bad quartos’, etc. The Harvard Concordance to Shakespeare (1973) is a single-volume work based on Vols. IV-VI.
